SNAP! 90s Dance Party is Saturday June 6 at Lo Fi Performance Gallery. It is a shared feeling amongst the Trashy Trash crew that Mad Max was born to play this night. When we were all in Portland last month checking out SNAP down there, Max confessed he’d been waiting for a party like this ever since the 90s ended. So, in anticipation of the big night in Sea Town and as an expression of his love for the 90s 12″, he has put together this sweet ass mix.

SNAP! 90s Dance Party is the hottest thing going in Portland. They pack Holocene full of awesome kids who like to get real sweaty on the dance floor every month. Trashy Trash DJs are the right crew to bring this party north. Our friends and Portland SNAP! residents Colin Jones and Freaky Outy will be joining us for the launch in Seattle.
Mad Max, The Man/The Myth! The veteran Seattle DJ/Producer/Crazy wicked graphic designer is getting ready to put out an album on Fourthcity but it’s taking him a while to select all the tracks. That’s because he has like thousands of really really nice cuts to choose from. I’m serious. His output is prolific. If you know Max and don’t see him for a couple weeks it’s because he’s been at home, hard at work making like 20 or 30 new hip hop instrumentals and he doesn’t have time for you because you are not a fresh sample from a thrift store record you only wish you had heard of and owned before Max. But, when you do run into him, he is always happy to give you a homemade CD of why you haven’t seen him round for a while (my desk is littered with them). His style has developed into something quite timeless and unique over the years and a growing number of Seattle beat heads are starting to wake up to this dude’s talent.
I was stoked to hear Max was going to put out a CD he didn’t burn himself at home so I asked if he would slam together some of his favorite beats into a little promo mix I could put on my blog. And now, without further ado, I give you the Mad Max Mega Mix…
I think Mad Max deserves a few free 12″s from Delicious Vinyl for getting that.

I’d like to be able to say this recipe came to me in a dream because that’s how it tastes and it makes you feel dreamy too. But no. It came to me last Thursday night while sipping a fancy vodka martini of good but lesser quality. And I was like, this is good but I can totally take this to the next level and I can make all the different boozes be from France!
It’s equal parts Grey Goose Vodka and Green Chartreuse STIRRED! (don’t go all stupid “shaken not stirred” on this drink. Good martinis are stirred.) Strain into a cocktail glass, add a healthy splash of champagne and garnish with a twist of lime.
Here is a picture of a beautiful Claude Balzac Official Cocktail taken with a shitty phone camera. But don’t be fooled! This shit is decadent. Ask for it by name. Thank me later for inventing the best drink you’ve ever had. It will make you feel so superior to all those around you not drinking Claude Balzacs that you will be tempted to spit some of your drink on them. But don’t waste it. Those unsophisticated miserable pissant Americans are not worth it. Just snatch their Jager Bombs from them and throw them back in their faces. There, that’s better.
Chris De Luca of Chis De Luca Vs. Phon.o just hit me up with this mix. It’s pretty damn dope. Hope Seattle is included in their US tour. I can’t remember what I did instead of see them at Decibel Festival in 2007 but whatever it was was stupid and not worth it.

So for you, I offer this wonderful walk down memory lane to tide you over. It’s a live mix from Dan “Same DNA” Ames, Mr. Trashy Trash himself. It is one of his signature multi genre -booze, sweat, bass and booty all up in your face- sets. I just got done speaking with Mr. Ames about it and he wishes to express how happy he is to be releasing a live mix. Sadly, Studley Buffkins was snowed in and had to cancel(I think he was just afraid). The show went very well however. We had Jon Dix (hpx.net) come down to do visuals for the first three acts. Linda and Ron’s Dad did a multi media performance, showing video shot by Tyler Swan on a recent trip to Vietnam set to music made from samples of records he bought on the same trip.
